Moldavian Intermodal Logistics Complex

OVERVIEW
For the improvement of the Moldavian logistical services, in the frame of the increasing share of the combined transport, a great need for an Intermodal Logistics Complex is emerging. This will be the biggest logistical improvement in the country and in the region.
A railway-kombi-and-logistics terminal is planned to be within the complex. This complex will be the meeting point of the main traffic roads of West-, East-, South-Europe and the neighbor countries.
As the part of the Moldavian combined transport system, it will have a role of the main shunting point in Moldova. On the other hand it will have a main role in the Moldavian transit traffic.
The terminal will maintain a link with the main neighboring ports of the South Europe by the regular containers running. It will organize traffic to Europe, CIS and South-East Europe.
The complex will be an ideal solution for empty containers as depot. It will offer a high quality service for accompanied or unaccompanied traffic either.
The terminal will contribute in the most effective way to decrease the environmental pollution by removing the truck traffic to the fringes of the city.

LOCATION
The Intermodal Logistics Center will be located at a 10-20-hectare area in the suburb of Chisinau - surrounded by Highway Chisinau-Odessa and by the main rail-road Chisinau-Odessa. It will be located close to all significant junctions of the transnational destinations and transit routes. The complex will be perfectly accessible by motor road and rail road from all directions. The airway connections will be easy too.

SERVICES
The complex will have the capacity to provide complex services covering the complete process of combined transport and cargo handling and storing: direct railway connection with the significant ports and centers of Europe, the countries of the CIS and South-Eastern Europe; regular traffic among Chisinau and the European Middle Eastern, South-Eastern and CIS terminals. The terminal will play the role an eastern-western turning point and the role of a regional HUB centre.
